WHAT IS DISCOVERY BIBLE STUDY (DBS)?
A DMM/CPM is a supernatural move of God’s Spirit sweeping through a people group or area where thousands of lives are transformed as people enter God’s Kingdom and become part of His family. These movements use simple methods and are indigenous.
The terms Disciple Making Movement (DMM) and Church Planting Movement (CPM) are basically interchangeable. Some would say that a DMM emphasizes disciples making disciples while a CPM emphasizes church planting churches. For common purposes, however, the concepts are basically the same. If you have disciples making disciples, you generally will also have some kind of discipleship groups multiplying as well.
10 Important Characteristics of A DMM are:
1) Simple (Story telling in a small setting)
2) Obedience Jesus followers (Being a disciple)
3) Relationship building (Community investment)
4) Accountability to one another (Keeping each other accountable)
5) Cost effiective (Mostly lay believers meeting at any convenient places)
6) Prayer focused (Relaying on the Holy Spirit guidance and empowerment)
7) Fast-growing
8) Indigenous (of the local culture)
9) Multiplying groups
10) Community Transformation

One person reads the new Bible passage out loud, and the rest follow along. Someone else retells the story and others fill in what is missing.

Group guidelines
Read these five guidelines to the group as you begin the first three or four sessions.
1. Everyone shares in sentences, not paragraphs.
2. Focus only on what this passage is saying, not on other passages.
3. Focus only on what this group is seeing.
4. Give people time to respond. Silence is OK.
5. The facilitator should facilitate discussion, not teach.
Facilitator guidelines
1. Keep the session on schedule and complete all sections, though not necessarily all questions.
2. Prepare before by studying passage, looking for main idea, and think of some examples, stories or applications from your own life.
3. Respond to questions by asking group, “What in the passage helps us answer that question?”
4. Respond to distracting comments by asking, “Where is that found in this passage?”
5. Resond to “strange” answers by asking, “Help us understand what you are thinking.”
